Skyler Weeks (US) jumped an amazing 2.65m, and Lily Fitzgibon an equally staggering 2.05m at Cliffhanger 2008 on Saturday 12th July, setting new World Records in the Dyno Competition. During the competition Skyler narrowly failed at 2.70m, but managed it on his 4th attempt, sadly once the competition had ended thereby rendering it un-official.
On Sunday the 13th July both competitors came back to Cliffhanger to compete a second time. Lily broke her own record to move the mark to 2.10m. Skyler equalled his record of 2.65m, and second placed competitor Mike Mullins managed an un-official 2.725m after the competition.
Keith Sharples took some cracking photos of the competition.
A note on the legitimecy of the records: In order for a record to be made official by the Guinness World Records the succesful jump must take place in an official competition, be witnessed by two independent people and two recognised officials, and be photographed / videod. Last year at Cliffhanger Skyler managed a jump of 2.65m, but we failed to meet these criteria, thus the record was not valid. We are in the process of validating the new records with Guiness.
